Bill Freeman started Freeman Photography in the early 80’s in Houston, TX. His passion for
photography was a hobby that he grew and developed from the garage of his house where he
taught himself to process color negatives and prints. Freeman began working in the volume
industry of sports photography which could be shot and processed on nights and weekends so
that he could maintain a full time job in commercial construction during the week. In 1989 with
the increase in their photography contracts and a corresponding weakening of the commercial
construction market in Houston, Bill and his wife Ann decided to turn the part time photography
business into their livelihood. Today his photography focus is mainly undergraduate school
yearbook photos, high school Senior portraits, family portraits, business portraits and
commercial events.
Since Bill was not formally educated in photography, he dedicated himself to learning the
industry through books, classes, tapes, and seminars. Since many organizations such as PSPA,
PSPI, PMA, PPA, and DIMA played such a strong roll in the development of his career, Bill
Freeman has remained active in them as a leader in the industry. Bill has served as the
President of PSPA (Professional School Photographers Association) and is a member of PPA
(Professional Photographers of America) He has served as chairman of the Speaker Selection
sub Committee for School Sports & Events with PPA providing continuing education for the
volume markets. Bill was one of the original Coaches at Imaging USA mentoring photographers
in the volume market. He has worked for many years with the Yearbook Guidelines Committee
helping Photographers and Publishers helps our common client…the School. Bill has served on
the Professional Advisory Council (Photography) for the Art institute of Houston. In 2017
Freeman Photography was recognized as a Top 100 Studios for the USA and Canada. He is a
Certified Professional Photographer, a Master Photographer and Craftsman and a Member of
American Society of Photographers (ASP). In 2014 he received the Leadership Award from the
International Photographic Council at the United Nations.
When Bill is not behind the camera, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and being with his grandkids.
